We took a day excursion to Blue Lagoon Island. The islands main attraction is the dolphin and sea lion encounters. We did not partake in that activity. We went there for a beach day. The lagoon was very comfortable with chairs, palm trees, hammocks, and beautiful water. I was a bit disappointed that you couldn't see the wide open water in the main area. There were several water play areas (One in the lagoon, and one off in the sand with fresh water and air filled slides and jumpers)- that were additional charge, I believe ~$15.
Then I went for a walk, just on the other side of the restaurant, was the most gorgeous cove with a wide expansive view of the caribbean- the most beautiful site I have ever seen! Apparantly most of the people on the island didn't know it was there. There was about 10 lounge chairs- no shade. I heard from someone else as we were leaving that there are several private coves like that if you just wander around the island. That finding was one of the best moments of our vacation- I loved it!
This place really faccinated me as I was able to climb a pirate watch tower set up at 1 side of the Island, Th Island itself looks like a croissant shape meaning that outside you are in contact to the caribbean sea but inside the island converts into a little river , with no waves at all but still powerful enough for you to go against the tide,,,pristine water, powder sand , calm and beutiful, lots of vegetation ,, the 45 min ferry worth it! Do not hesitate and go
We visited Blue Lagoon Island, where the Blue Lagoon movies and Gilligan's Island were filmed. It was absolutely beautiful. We spent lots of time in the water, where you don't need snorkeling equipment to see the beautiful fish swimming with you. The water is wonderfully clear. We then hiked around the island to see the greenery and the historical sites. Then we napped in the hammock until it was time to go. It was so perfect. I wanted to share with you my favorite view of the day.
A must see and experience is 'The Dolphin Encounter' Paradise Island. Swim with the Dolphin Experience.
It's an experience most people dream of doing. It's a once and a lifetime adventure. The Dolphins are so friendly.
They will come up to you and give you a kiss on your nose.
Kids love it.
Take a trip to the nearby Blue Lagoon Island (site in the movie Splash) where the dolphins roam and have a grand time in their company.
Private island: great for relaxing (hammocks are everywhere), water sports (recreation available), and having a wonderful time.
Here you can play with the bottle nosed dolphins in waist high water or swim with the dolphins if you wish. Or you can become an assistant trainer for a day!
