Birdwatching in Caroni Swamp Sanctuary
We took a boat trip in Caroni Birds Sanctuary to see a Scarlet Ibis - a national bird of Trinidad and Tobago. It is a nice 2 hours long trip with a tour guide pointing different species of birds, snakes, trees and even alligator. We were lucky to see couple of Scarlet Ibis just on the bank of river on the mangrove, but the main spot to watch those beautiful birds is a big tree close to a place of nesting. We haven't got a binoculars so we could see only hundreds of red spots on a tree. very relaxing trip, especially that you can see a beautiful sun set down the river. Trip cost TT$60 for foreigners and TT$40 for locals.
