In a nutshell
Don't waste much of your time here
The botanical gardens is located near the highway and is little more than a public park where the locals come to relax. There are several very large tropical trees to admire here.

The lighthouse at the fort has a lead crystal Fresnel lens that can throw a beam 50km out to sea using just a 3000-watt light. If you have an interest in old lighthouses the lightkeeper will probably show you around.

This fort is well worth a visit for both its historical significance and its lovely coastal views.
Canons line the old stone walls and many of the historic buildings have been restored.
There is a small museum with displays of Tobago's colonial history.

Before we rented a jeep in Tobago we decided to take a bus from Crown Point to Scarborough. We went to the bus stop at the airport but there was no timetable. You must buy a ticket before you get into the bus so go to the airport to look for the bus ticketing place TT$2).
A big air-conditioned bus came in about 10 min. it takes about 45 minutes to get to the 'capital' of Tobago.
We found out there is not much to see over there so we decided to come back after about 1 hour. We ended up waiting on a bus at the main bus station for 2,5 hours, although a bus should go every hour. Dreadful experience, waste of time.
But as my husband said - This is a Trinidad (Tobago) for you.
Next day we rented a jeep (TT$250 a day).

For the visiting tourist, there may not be much in Scarborough after one visits Fort George, and the few other little places of interest.
However, there are a few street food markets that the locals go to and you may be able to entertain yourself here for a while watching the locals and shopping for a few local foods.
What to buy: The local fruits are typically good. But eat them quickly since they will spoil soon.
Also, the spices are typically good and cheap!
Similar to most places in Tobago, you will be able to find handmade jewelry and leather goods too.
What to pay: prices are low

Address: downtown Scarborough
We love to shop here at the Cotton House. Most all of the cotton clothing is made right there. You can also learn how to do the tie dye thing.
This is an excellent place to buy souveniers or some cool cotton clothing for yourself.

Address: Bacolet Street
Just down the road from Ocean Point Hotel is Little Rockly Bay: This scenic stretch runs along the old coast road, with crashing waves and stunning Atlantic views. Scarborough is in the background of the picture.

Favorite thing: While Scarborough may be the capital, it is not where most tourists would want to stay.
Most tourist-friendly businesses, restaurants, hotels, etc. are in nearby Crown Point. Scarborough would be recommended as a day trip from there.
