    Cruzan Rum

    by cjg1 Updated Jun 5, 2015

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cruzan Rum is the locally produced rum of St. Croix. The rum distillery was founded in 1760 and is available for a tour. Cruzan Rum has a variety of blends, flavors and age categories depending on your personal tastes. While we were in St. Croix we picked up some bottles for friends back home in Mango and Guava flavors.

    Gas Stations

by grandmaR Written Jan 10, 2015

There are sufficient gas stations on the island so that you don't have to worry about running out of gas and not being able to find a gas station. Most of them are self service. Last time we were there the gas prices at all the stations was exactly the same $4.19/gallon. So we could get gas at the station we preferred, up by Christiansted, or down by the airport just before turning in the car, and the price was the same. The local customs part of this is that the gas station often are named after the place they are located. So when you see a gas station called "Lower Love", it doesn't mean that you can buy Playboy there - it's the name of the area.

    Good Morning, Afternoon, and Night

by jenval Written Jun 24, 2008

Here and throughout much of the Caribbean, greeting people with Hi! is considered kind of rude. It will peg you as an uninformed tourist in a second. Instead greet with Good Morning (until noon), Good Afternoon (until about sunset), and Good Night (after dark). It may sound a little awkward at first, but it does make a difference.
