    SAINT CROIX CARRIBEAN BEACH ESCAPE

by exarmysgt Updated May 16, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Lots of water sports to do! Parasailing, snorkling, scuba diving, boating and sailing etc. I moved there when I was 18 to heal my first broken heart with my best friend Danielle, who has since passed. We were young, wild and crazy. She worked renting water sports equipment on the beach during the day while I got sun and drank bannanna coladas and I worked at night at a club serving drinks. Fun, laid back place. This was back in 1989. Non-judgemental atmosphere where everyone just wanted to hang out, get drunk or high and have a good time. Lot's of non-committal sex going on! LOL

Equipment: Christiansted was the tourist part of St. Croix. It was very small so everything was right there in front of you. You can't miss a thing. If you are lucky enough to mingle with the locals, you might be invited to the other side of the island, called Fredricksberg. You are not welcome there unless you have been taken there by a local. They frequently have bonfires, get high and listen to Bob Marley. Good Times!

Bring plenty of Sunblock and an open mind!

We stopped at Cane Bay for photos of the beach. This is on St. Croix's north shore. When we were here the waters were gentle along the palm-tree-lined beach, but I have heard that this isn't always true.

Equipment: You can rent chairs at the dive shop.

    Scuba Dive the Frederiksted Pier

by Kristini Written Jul 10, 2010

The pier has so much underwater life growing on the pillars and living around the area! If you scuba dive it is shallow at around 20 feet so it lasts a loooong time!

Day dive you'll see all the beautiful colors and bright fish swimming around.

Night dive you'll see moray eels, crabs, lobsters, and so much more!

There's many local dive shops that dive the pier twice a day.

Equipment: Many local dive shops offer equipment rentals and guided dives.

Also, I noticed buying scuba equipment in St. Croix is significantly cheaper than buying in the US!

I came across this game of Cricket while cycling around the island. It was interesting, yet seemed so out of place here......
