There is very little "nightlife" on StJ. In Cruz Bay, the only place I know of that stays open past midnite is Woody's. Convenient when we arrive on late ferry, I know that we can get to our villa, return to the Starfish Market for groceries and hit Woody's for a burger and beer for dinner. Depending on the season or the night you will find the atmosphere either raucaus or mellow. You might even find Kenny Chesney strumming his guitar in an impromptu mini concert.

Fredd's Disco in Cruz Bay regularly has live music with local bands and it's large enough that you won't feel squeezed in like a sardine. Once the band has finished for the evening move on to Duffy's Love Shack, but beware...steamy tropical island, thumping music, a tiny dance floor packed with people, , and alcohol that seemingly flows from the taps... Duffy's has a reputation for getting pretty wild in the wee hours, definitely not for the faint of heart.
There is a Duffy's on St. Thomas too.

Cruz Bay is bustling with all sorts of nightlife almost every night. Lonely Planet referred to it as Ibiza style nightlife and while I have not been to Ibiza (yet), I beg to differ. St. John nightlife was more along the lines of beer and rum drinking goofy island fun.

There were few bars that accomplished the feel of a great pub on St. John, but nestled on the second floor of a small wooden structure in Cruz Bay, the Quiet Mon Pub is a classic Caribbean style bar that does it right.
The floors creak when walked on, there are lots of pictures of patrons from days long gone by and a balcony that wraps around the front of the building that is great for checking out all the action on the street below...

Q: in one month, one week and two days. And I am already in that mode I get into just before a trip. But it is too early for that!...

A: Why bother? :-) I find part of the pleasure is in the anticipation of the trip. I'll be heading to the Caribbean in Jan for two weeks- sometimes I just give in and sit...
