Kolonat: Albanian McDonalds

by Skibbe

I actually didn't eat here, I just thought this McDonalds knock off was amusing. I was told that inside its even more McDonalds-esque. Strangely, Albania is a nation without a McDonalds. I'm sure that will be fixed before long and Albanians will get to be just as obese as the rest of us.I did go to a couple of good restaurants. One of them was the Skyclub, Vodafone Tower, Rr Deshmoret e 4 Shkurtit. Great views of the city and good food. Their phone number is 04-221666.

Soups-------------------Sup‘ qengji me majdanozLamb soup with parsley-------------------------------------Cut 1/2 kg (about 18 ounces) of lamb meat in small equal pieces, wash it, put in cold water and let it boil. Once the water has boiled, add salt. When the meat is half cooked, lightly fry a batch of young onions cut in fine pieces and 1 spoon of flour in 2-3 spoons of butter, then add 2 to 3 batches of parsley, also cut very fine. Add the fried things to the soup. Continue to boil the soup, at the end serve it with 1-2 boiled eggs and 3-4 spoons of yogurt. Angjelos International Food: Authentic Albanian Cuisine

by Angjel

This section contains recipes for Albanian dishes from Albania, Kosova, and other Albanian communities in the Balkans and elsewhere. ALBANIA / TRADITION / CURIOSITY Cooking Recipes in English =================================Albania has been under the domination of different empires: from the Greeks and Roman in antiquity, to more recently, the Ottomans. Albanian food has been heavily influenced by all of these conquerors, as well as by their neighbors. Indeed, many of the recipes I write were modified versions of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean Staples: qofte (savory meatballs fried or grilled), dolma (stuffed grape leaves) and baklava among them. Greek-influenced stuffed vegetables are also quite common as are Turkish-inspired meat-filled-pastries. As in most countries, Albanian food used to vary considerably from region to region. It seems, however, that during communist times the food...

Manger à l'albanaise

by CliffClaven

If you hunt the backstreets of Paris or New York, you'll undoubtedly find an Albanian restaurant that will feed you adequately. Old Cliffie recalls trudging the streets of Prizren in Albanian-speaking Kosovo, peering into one smoke-filled room after another, before ending up with a bowl of greasy bone soup. But after a bottle of the local rakija, who cares what the food tastes like!?
