In another of my South Albania pages, namely my Konispol page, I outlined that flocks of sheep were not unusual on the road. A little further to Mesopotam, on the main road from Saranda to Gjirokaster, we met a herd of six donkeys that roamed freely along the road, unattended. They looked very happy and allowed us to shoot a photo of their party!

During the day, it is always a pleasure to meet donkeys on the road. At night, they can be a danger, then, try to avoid as much as possible to drive at night.

Favorite thing: While we were looking desperately for a XIIth century monastery standing between two rivers (“Mesopotam”), I spotted this lonely cow that was actually standing between two rivers. That was indeed the Mesopotam cow but she was much younger that the monastery we were looking for !
