I was very surprised by this sight (I later saw the same in other places in 1988’s Albania) with so many TV antennas on the roof of a building of housing. It seems that each apartment had its own antenna. I teased our very friendly Albanian guide and said to him “how do you, in a strongly communist country, allow each one to have his private antenna? In France, we have not a communist regime but antennas are collective and it is strongly forbidden to have private ones on a building”*. Actually, this was the only time that he was unable to answer!

Playground for children 1988
by JLBG
On the other side of the boulevard was a playground for children of meritorious workers (or was that for meritorious children?). As the big wheel did not seem to be run by an engine, it had to be run by manpower. Unless it was run by naughty children in order for the meritorious children to have fun? I don?t know! Just an hypothesis!
