These two photos were taken just outside Poshnjë, at the crossing between the road from Fier (west) and the road from Durrës, Rrogozinë and Lushnjë (north), leading to Berat (south). This is another photo for my collection of school warning road signs.

I have never enough of these brightly colored new house and buildings that now dot Albania instead of the grayish hosing of the Enver Hoxha period!

Photo 1 is a discreet pistachio green house.

Photo 2 has added a bright red to a darker gren

Photo 3 shows that even a plain warehouse has been artistically painted in pale yellow for the walls, bright yellow for the frame and bright blue for the lintels, under, of course, a red roof!

Photo 4 is stranger. Was it built by a Sino-Albanian or an Albano-Chinese?

    Concrete ferry

In 2007, I had noticed too late this strange building along the road from Fier to Poshnje and I could not stop for a photo.

In 2009, it was almost finished and as I was warned, I could make a stop in time and take a few pictures.
I suppose that the owner has always been fascinated by ferries and wanted to live in such a boat. Isn’t that strange! What will be the colors?

    Derricks field east to Fier

    Derricks field east to Fier

When driving from Vlora to Rroskovec and Berat, a few kilometers east to Fier, you will be amazed by a strong smell of fuel. At the same time, the landscape is dotted with dozens of steel structures. In 1988, it was easy to identify derricks as the old petrol pumping devices were moving and working. In 2007, the derricks were still there but none that we could see was working and had I not been aware of their nature, I would not have easily connected the smell with the nature of these structures. The soil is soaked with petrol and bitumen, hence the smell.
