Just behind the seafront, in a parallel street, a few shops are waiting the customer. Or may be the goods. Or may be both.
On the left, Metrazhe të leshta : wool material by the meter
On the right, Metrazhe të pambuhta : cotton material by the meter
In the middle, Trihotazhe : this is not in my small dictionary but my wild guess is that it should mean "knitting", in French "Tricotage"
BTW, are they three (state owned) shops or one, (state owned) shop ?
What do you think of the brand new car (well almost brand new !) that I might have bought in 1988. I do not know the exact brand but I know it was Chinese. In 1988, there were only 600 cars in the entire country! I do not know the figure today, but it, for sure, has expanded by several zeros, mainly with Mercedes !
What to buy: Sergey (VT Sergey_Kuznetzov) has identified the car as a Muscel M-59 produced under Russian licence by ARO in Romania. The original Russian car is the GAZ-69, later named UAZ-69, a 4WD light truck. Photo and details on Wikipedia. Thank you Sergey for this identification!
Around the tourists buses you will easily find women and kids offering you tableclothes and other textile work with the name "Albania" on it. Not a very extra stuff, but after all is nearly the only souvenir you can find around, so...
I entered this travel agency just to have an idea of how easy would it be to move around the country in a future visit. And it really seemed to me it wasn't easy at all!!
There is no train and the roads are in so bad conditions that you have to think twice before taking one of those old "sovietic" buses.
There are a few airports, but only Titana's "Mother Teresa" airport is international (limited) and most of them have only military use, so moving around by plane is not an easy option either!!
