As soon as you leave the city towards the south, the road follows the shore of Gjiri I Vlorës, the Gulf of Vlorë. It is lined with nice beaches. In 1988, the powerful of the regime had villas in this area. As far as I know, there are now a good many new villas and sea-side hotels that have been built along this superb shore.
