Flag square or Independence square
The main square of Vlorë is called Sheshi i Flamurit (Flag square), and is also called Independence square as it is where the independance of Albania was proclaimed in 1911. In the center of the square stands a monument unveiled in 1972, that depicts an anonymous flag holder, while below are depicted distinguished figures of the movement for the independence of Albania, including Ismail Qemali and Isa Boletini. It is a joint work of the sculptors, Kristaq Rama, Shaban Haderi and Muntaz Dhrami.
