 | Vuno Off the Beaten Path | Tips 1 - 8 of 8 | | Popular Off the Beaten Path | Miscellaneous Off the Beaten Path Tips | All Tips (8) This was great. Start your walk from Jal beach, ask locals for directions, you have to head south and go after the path, sometimes it gets hard to find where the path continues, so ask people if you are not sure. This is the best way to fully enjoy the Ionian landscape. This trip takes 1.30-2 hours, it depends how long you stay in the byway beaches. Himara is a small town in midway between Vlora and Saranda. You'll find good restaurants there. In your way you'll find this great beach (Livadh), almost deserted. You are not far from Himara when you'll be here, so stop and have a bath. Leave a Comment |
Cika erects 2044 metres directly above the sea. It is in the 83rd place in the list of Europe's finest mountains with a primary factor of 1563 metres. ( www.ii.uib.no/~petter/mountains.html ) To climb this mountain stop at Llogara and ask in the restaurants there for the path. I saw on a detailed map that there is a path from the top of Cika to different other mountains of the zone and even to villages in seaside. From the top of Cika you can view magnificent views of all the Albanian Riviera. Leave a Comment |
Rruget e bardha - White roads is the first beach you will see when you'll face the Albanian Riviera from Llogara. The name comes from the color of stones of the dry torrent that from mount Cika goes in the sea. There is not an asphalted road to the beach, but it's not so far from the main road. It is a big, almost totally deserted beach. This picture was taken while descending Llogara, April 2005,and we were 'inside' some light clouds. Leave a Comment |
This wonderful beach, called 'Aquarium' by the locals, is just 20 min walk from the main Jal Beach. There are good possibilities for you to be the only people there. The beach is small and very isolated. The water in front of the beach is sorrounded by big rocks. Leave a Comment |
Amazing. This beach is situated at the end of a great gorge, 100m deep, caved by a small river, almost inexistent in summer. This beach is accessible through a bad road. For driving there follow the road from Vuno to Dhermi, until you see the sign for turning left to Gjipe. I went there by foot from Vuno, beautiful trip. There's a restaurant and a camping. This fort is in Porto Palermo bay, south of Himara. I slept here one night in 1998 when travelling in south Albania with friends. When exploring the fortress take a torch with you. On the right part of the bay there's a military base builded during communism, there you can see the entrance of a big tunnel, that was for the submarines. To go there take a taxi from Vuno or Himara, it's on the national road Vlora-Saranda. Leave a Comment |
This lovely small beach, called 'Pusi i Peristereve', meaning cove of doves, is very near to the main Jal Beach, north direction. You have to walk on some rocks in the coastline. Or you can easily reach it taking a boat in Jal. Taking a boat is a good way for enjoying some other small beaches nearby, still I prefer walking. Leave a Comment |
Another picture of Aquariumi beach, this was taken at the moment we first saw this beauty. No one was there for all the day except us. Leave a Comment |
