Qendra Tregtare Univers(QTU): Shopping centre

by AlbaniaLover

This is a new shopping centre just outside of Tirana with a few big names in there. There are bars, restaurants and a Euromax supermarket and electronics store. Also there are about 30 other shops there including Albtours, Mango, Vodafone and Union (money transfer). The centre is open 09:00 til 21:00. A free shuttle bus runs from the National Museum in Tirana central square to the centre every 20/30 minutes between the times of 08:00 and 22:00. All sorts of things to buy! depends

Smart shopping: Brand names

by AlbaniaLover

This shopping centre was opened in 2003 and was one of the first with brand names and designers. It has about 20 or so shops. Opening hours from 09:00 - 20:00 Makes include Nike, Lancome, Samsonite, Levis, Diesel and Illy caffe. Depends what you buy

Celiku: Souvenirs

by vesna04

This shop is situated next to the restaurant as soon as you cross the border from Montenegro. It is small but well stocked. I am glad I bought some souvenirs here, as we didn't have much time to look for them on the other places. The prices were ok.

Srteet vendors: Fresh fruits

by vesna04

Street vendors can be spoted all along the way. It is a good way to buy some fruits to take with you. We bought some oranges and bananas. I don't recall how much we payed but I am sure it was not expencive. (if you have the change, you can pay in euros.)

Tirana Food Market: Mouthwatering Food

by Rushi23

We were to late to go the main market, but we stumbled upon fruit and Veg market. Also lots of bakeries and fish shops in the vincinity. Beautiful fresh fruit and abundance of Olives. The fruit was gorgeous. as were some of the olives we picked. Olives, plums, oranges and grapes really juicy. Very little cant remember the exact amount a few lek anyway.

music stand: Traditional music

by AlbaniaLover

In Tepelene next to the hotel and Ali Pasha monument there is a stall normally playing some music so you can't miss it! From here you can get tapes and cd's of traditional music from the south of Albania. music not sure how much to pay as i didn't buy anything from here

stalls: Fancy a snack?

by AlbaniaLover

You will find many stalls near the coast selling things like figs and olives if you want a snack on a long journey. Also in the summer nearly everywhere there will be stalls in towns or on the side of the road selling cooked corn on the cob. olives, figs, dried figs and sweetcorn cheap!

Local gifts for friends and family

by AlbaniaLover

I have come across a couple of shops, one in the Sheraton that sells nice little gifts to take home and one in Tirana near to the cinema, on the other side of the road is a currency exchange and ice cream shop. This was the best one with a friendly owner. He had lots of different gifts from jewelry to wooden hand made boxes to copper tea sets. Different amounts depending what you buy.

Tell everyone where you've been!

by illumina

You will probably see these T-shirts everywhere in Albania - as far as tourist souvenirs go, they and the Albanian flags are probably the best. I brought one back just so I can wear it and let everyone know where I have been! I think it cost me 700 leke, which is about ?3.50.

what can you eat and drink?

by rw-bigfoot

we could eat at all the restaurant without getting sick but we couldn't eat the vegatables from the makets there, we could eat the wonderful bananas cost about 25 lek each (.25 cents) the oranges were great but turned even Rays cast iron stomach, we noticed they put regular water from the tap over the fruits and vegetables during the day to keep them fresh looking and that's a big no no don't drink the water. The water and the sewage lines run together in the towns that's enough said about that, drink the bottled water the Krystal brand was good some of them are just tap water in bottles the derby brand from durres made us sick. water, a big jug was 60 lek (.60 cents) small water bottles were between 40 and 50 lek so we just bought a big jug and kept filling our small bottles up with it.
