As mountains cover more than 70% of the country, Albania is a potential heaven for trekkers. However, it seems that there is hardly anything organized (though things change so fast in Albania that it may not be true anymore). Do not expect any signs along the tracks! Do not expect neither any detailed maps! !). Thus, trekking might be a kind of adventure in the wilderness! A local guide can be a help but to be local does not mean that he knows the routes! We have not trekked in Albania but from what I have read, there are several areas available. I will mention two, but there are also other places.
. . Theth is a small town in the middle of the Albanian Alps, about 60 km north-east to Shkodra. It is in the middle of the Teth National park and seems to be a perfect hub for small or long treks. The travel writer Edith Durham wrote extensively about that area. Caution, you might encounter wolves, lynx, bears and be watched by eagles! Besides Theth, the names of the Valbona, Boga and Vermosh valleys must be mentioned. The following link gives an exciting report of an adventurous trek out of Theth. You might also be interested by an organized trek around Theth. Rozafa Tourist Agency seems to be the only Albanian travel agency that organizes on a regular basis tours from Shkodra that include a part of trekking from Teth. They are very likely to be able to organize on request for small groups longer treks with qualified guides. The contact is Luan Dervishi at Hotel Rozafa, Rruga "Vasil Shanto", Shkodra. Tel/Fax.: (+355) 224 3590, tel. (+355) 224 3767 The Tomor massif and neighboring massifs constitute another possible area for trekking. Berati is the best starting point into the Tomor and the Skrapar massifs. East to the Tomor, the Opari and the Ostrovica massifs are reached from Korça and further through the villages of Voskopoja and Dardha. There does not seem to be any Albanian travel agency that organizes treks neither from Berati nor from Korça. Those interested will have do be exclusively on their own and that will be pure adventure! Leave a Comment Theme: Hiking

hi there! There are no golf courses in albania. I'm sorry. I don't even think there are plans to open one. I don't know why to be honest. It may be that the Albanian's don't have a clue about golf. It's only football over there. Hope this help you. Leave a Comment Theme: Golfing
