Anywhere outside of the capital of Tirana i'm sure that at some stage you will go along some pretty dodgy roads, all i can say is watch out for the holes and some of the mad Albanian drivers.
Much like it being best to avoid the word 'bus' in Hungary, you will save yourself embarrassment by not using the English word 'car'; the Albanian 'kar' means 'p*nis'!
albania is a safe country. don't worry of having problem at night, only be careful for not changing cash on streets and don't drive at night because of bad road condition.
Can be awful outside main towns, not advisable to take a car. Better to travel round with locals or take a bus. Driving is very similar to in Italy.
Albanians are fairly superstitious and you will probably see them giving money to cripples or old people. What you do with your money is your own business but hold on to your bag tight.
The road conditions in the country are very bad, so bad that you cannot imagine.There is only one big highway 40khm before TIRANA the capital city.You must be very careful with your car.
Watch out for bad rates on currency exchange. In almost every streetcorner there is someone that want to change money. Go to a few of them and bargain to get the best rate.
