Arinsal Nightlife

El cau is a very small bar though as everything in Arinsal. And it's as friendly as everybody in this place. I can’t explain why it attracts me so much – I think cause of its atmosphere.
Nothing original in decoration of it u won’t find: just a bar along 2 of the walls and big barrels as tables with high chairs. There’s a big screen in one of its corners and usually it shows some films about boarding and skiing. Also there’re tables with football and a table for pool.
Beer and wine cost about 4EUR.
Music is mix of modern pop and some old hits.
It’s staff always carries out some actions, such as Sumo night (every Tuesday), beach part (Thursday) and of cause Friday night – 70s Night.
The most quiet days r usually Saturday and Sunday cause a lot of people leaving. Monday is crazy day - there’re a lot of newcomers El cau is overfill and the feeling of holidays making people drunk not worse then its very-very friendly staff. Everybody’s dancing. The next day it’s usually more quiet and less people (I think some of them’re getting a rest after previous night)
Then it comes Sumo night. I think this show is too long. It’s rather amusing to look after 2-3 rounds but then…But may be it’s not so interesting only for me.
Can’t say anything about Wednesday.
Then it comes beach party. Summer music, summer ***s – a lot of people.
Friday night – 70s Night. During the day u should buy a ticket in the bar – it costs 10EUR (then it’ll cost 15EUR). Staff several hours a day spend on the slopes boarding in costumes of Elvis and etc.
Then at 9 o’clock disco is opened (big dancing-floor). But it’s nothing to do for the first several hours but drinking a beer for 1EUR. At 10-11 it starts a show which is carried out buy staff. Some dancing on the scene which should be repeated by audience. Sometimes its funny. The best thing in this evening that it looks like all the town is on this party and about 12 o’clock everybody is dancing. Dance floor is overfilled so drinks are overturned regularly…

Dress Code: Absolutely no dress code.
Jeens and t-***s is the best variant for this place. Sometimes even in snow costumes.

A great night out for some good craic, has live music on several nights of the week including an open mic night (Thurs I think) which is a good laugh. Only downside is that its quite small and can get very crowded on busy nights (mind you, that applies to most bars in Arinsal).
It is one of those rare bars that has a great atmosphere but also is very kid friendly. Pool table, table footy, internet, arcade games etc etc. Good cocktails if you like that sort of thing and very generous with the spirit measures too!
The owners, brothers Darin and Dean are local legends and being ski instructors by day the bar is a fav with the other instructors.
Other decent bars include Bar Solana which is the place to end up on Fri and Sat night with it's later opening hours, and Ciscos. If you like cheesy chart stuff then El Cau is a good mid-week venue, although I would avoid it's "famous" 70's night on Fridays which depite the cheap drinks, is a cross between butlins and a school disco.

Dress Code: whatever you like really. You will need coats when you are out and you will need to take them off when in the bar. Watch out for coat thieves, whilst the Derby isn't bad for this, in some other bars especially El Cau it happens.

Surf is where everyone goes when El Cau and Ciscos is closed. There is usually a lot of locals there and it's mostly Spanish music that is played.

It's great for those who want to stay up till the wee hours of the morning.

Tuesday Night in Arinsal is Sumo Night in El Cau.

It is absolutly comical. People get to face off against their friends or complete strangers (whatever they fancy). They has to put on these huge Sumo suits, which you can see in the photo. The Sumo suits include the main body, hands and head gear. Then they get to fight each other which usually just involves them rolling around on the ground unable to get up.

Dress Code: Very Casual

Dress Code: If You Come Here With All Your Smart Gear Well Think Again Its More Like Casual Wear Jeans T-shirt Trainers Are The Way 2 Go Or Your Snow Boots Because Walking Up That Hill Gets Slippy When Youve Had A Bit 2 Much I Know From Experience lol

Red X, El Cau, Quo Vadis and the other one are all great. There is little between them, except for a longer walk to Red X. (which I preferred) You are best to follow your ski class and instructor, and join in.
Most bars will give you toasted sambos free to lure you in, they give away the tickets at the gondola station, the sambos are plain, but they are hot and free, so enjoy.
Some of the hotels have good entertainment, but it depends on the week- if the atmosphere isn't there, the places flop.
Arinsal is small, you could easily pub crawl all the bars each night, but ice gets slippier the more you drink!

Dress Code: Ski boots jackets and hats for the post piste toasted sandwich, Other than that very casual.
If you brought your armani suit, you are in the wrong resort!

Even though I went in high season, not all the bars are crammed with snowboarders and the like. I think it's probably cos everyone is too wrecked after skiing to even contemplate leaving their room. Some of our best nights were spent in our hotel bar.

Dress Code: Well dont bring high heels for starters :) It's dead casual, so tshirts & trousers are fine...in fact you could follow this guy's example & forget about the clothes ;) Raaaarrrr!!!
