Dress accordingly to weather. Check 10-day weather forecast for Andorra and keep in mind that in the mountains weather can change very fast from place to place. I experienced cold, foggy and rainy weather in France and surprisingly enjoyed beautiful warm sun about 30 minutes away in Andorra.
Always take sunglasses. The sun in high mountains is always very sharp!
Do not forget sunblock and do use it on time! Once I've seen a woman with severely burned face after only 1-2 hours on the sun in high mountains!
Take and use various photo filters from the basic ones: UV in the mountains and polarizing filter which reduces non-metallic reflections of snow. More in my tourist trap tip.
In colder season be prepared to use chains while driving. Snow storms at Port d'Envalira pass are possible even in September or May.

Unless you are teetotal you are likely to end up buying a few bottles here. Dare I say it you may even be slightly over the customs limit.
(I was once 25 times over the limit - but it's a long story)

Small is better - that's difficult when you're on a boarding holiday as all your clothes are big and warm but if you a located at a hotel that the coach can't drive down or up to then you'll be lugging a case through the snowy streets - not good after a 6 hour coach trip from the airport!
If you're going boarding/skiing you'll more than likely have the right gear - if you've not been before go for some warm salopettes and a warm jacket that comes down over your bum. Wear a few layers which you can take off if you get hot, and put back on again if the weather turns nasty. Good gloves are essential. Soggy cold hands are not fun. Get a hat that covers your ears - it's damn cold on those ski lifts!!

Probably the biggest worry is the transportation of those skis! Snowboarders are oh so lucky...
I fount that Damart's triple warmth thermal long-sleeve and pants work perfectly fine under my rented pink ski suit. Two-piece ski wear cannot be praised enough...for the luxury comfort of not having to strip the whole suit off for the loo(toilet to non-UK citizens...). Ski Wooly hat, although black ones would look like you have dandruffs when the snows fall on them...Skiing goggles are a MUST cos you'll be snow-blind otherwise..

Enough insurance cover for skiiers...(I bumped into a local guy who overtook me from behind at a steep curb and he was acting like he was dying, I was unscathed and looked at him like a lady...)
I guess cameras are mostly for the off-piste activities, so those that you use for low-light activity or night camera would do...Anyone for para-gliding(jumping off a cliff with a parachute on your pack, pulled by some kind of engine) may invest in a camcorder...What about digital cameras? I think for group skiiers, the less jewellery and gadgets the more comfort you'll have, so why not buy a disposable one?? You may be drunk anyway so the photos won't be perfect...
Skiing Boots, skiing suit, skiing hat, woolly scarf, the uttermost warm pair of gloves that fit you like your underwear...because any bit of air left in your palms will be cold! Note: you must be able to move comfortably in them too...
For the ski boots, the ones that fit you will leave some room for your toes to move... Queues for rented gear's quite long and cameras/films/lotion are quite expensive at the skiing resort. But I invested in a pair of skiing gloves and goggles so they may not be that expensive. Try borrowing everything from friends and buy the stuff you can't.
Try to stay as close to the ski lifts as possible. A cosy family accommodation with a friendly bar is better than a four-star hotel when one goes skiing I think...especially if the food is good!
Try to include half-board, and as many things as you can include before boarding the plane. On our chartered flight we have to pay extra for our drinks, come'on!

PS We skiied at Soldeu and stayed quite far off the lift, plus we had to cross a bridge where you could see a river underneath!! There was a posh hotel very close to the lifts...and a decent, smaller (my kinda accom) ski lodge with a really nice bar opposite. Sport Bags that have strong waterproof sides and bottom, remember your luggage may sit on snow for prolonged period of time and it isn't funny if there is no warm and dry clothing...
Thermal everything, wooly everything, airlock everything. Basically, lots of thermal undergarments, the best skiing gloves you can find, skiing goggles (available locally, bring the Spanish Pesetas, things are not expensive except obvious touristy numbers like films, batteries and camera.
Just in case your nose bleeds, bring pocket tissues.
Sunblock/tan lotion. UV-protect Lip gloss.
Ladies, bring your toiletries and warm clothing please.
Men, bring enough underwear and socks, with the emphasis on wool...
It's all nature here, so all the best that nature can offer, find a camera to match. Remember you would have to somehow put your camera inside your body while you ski
Sensible ski clothing. Two-piece ski costume recommended
Walking sticks might help, both for nature walking and to help you a bit as walking in those boots can be tricky, and the ice can be slippery... Leave a Comment

Pretty much a standard suitcase will do the job. Obviously, if you plan to ski, a bag for your equipment will be necessary.
In the winter months heavy clothes, coats and boots are essential. In the summer, lighter clothes will be just fine during the day, but at night it can get chilly, so a light jacket and long pants are not a bad idea. Of course, if you plan to ski, bring appriopriate attire. Swimwear is necessary if you plan to go to the Caldea, although towels will be provided. (Note that you can buy swimwear at the Caldea, but it is slightly expensive.)
Sunblock is suggested for skiiers, especially in the spring months. Other than that, pretty much anything you would need can be found at the apothecary stores scattered throughout the country, especilly in Andorra La Vella and Escaldes.
A camera with a telephoto lens is probably all you need. Although Andorra La Vella at night is pretty to look at from above, there is nothing really to focus on for nighttime shots.
Andorra has numerous hiking trails with small unmanned bordas in which you can stay at no charge. These are bare bones facilities with a bed and cooking facilities for hikers and campers. If you plan to use these, you will need to bring along food and other appropriate hiking equipment. Also, good walking shoes are recommended in any event. Swimwear is necessary if you plan to visit the Caldea. It is possible to swim in the various mountain lakes, but I would not recommend it as the water temperature stays chilly year round. Depending on the season, of course. But I'd suggest you take something you can wear when hiking , as this is one of the best things to do in Andorra.
You can buy anything you can in the capital possibly need, though for some medecins you may need prescription (even if they are sold without one in your home country) and several things may be more expensive than at home, too.
If you will be staying in a small place, it's better to take things you know almost for certain that you will need. Leave a Comment
