Vesuvio: Massana Pizzeria
I was attracted to Vesuvio because it has an "Italian American" vibe, with paper placemats, a breeze spinning sign and a bumbling family behind the counter. They're French, in fact. But, the pizza is pretty damn good and they go out of their way to make you happy. And, might I add: not many places to eat in Massana, period. Pizza is definitely the way to go. A goat cheese salad to start, pizza for main course, and profitoroles to finish. This three course plan is more than enough for two. Wine list is short and sweet, but the Gavanza(sp?) is a great Grenache blend that compliments Italian food, perfectly.A couple notes: there's a stack of ski magazines to leaf through when the service is particularly glacial, the toddler son may or may not crash his tricycle into your table while you dine. And, sometimes they give you a free shot of whiskey before you leave.
