ENCAMP, CHURCH OF ST. MICHAEL AND JOHN by matcrazy1 I stopped in a little (pop. 13,000) town of Encamp in geographical center of Andorra about 6 km from Andorra la Vella. Encamp is located at height of about 1,300 m and offers breathtaking views over surrounding mountains. Among narrow streets and passages I have found numerous - typical for the Pyrenees - old houses with walls made of natural stones and rocks. A little church in my picture - with typical for Spain single bell hang above the front entrance - church of Saint Michael and Saint John, really amazed me. ST. STEPHEN'S CHURCH IN ANDORRA LA VELLA by matcrazy1 I surelly stopped in the capital city of Andorra called Andorra la Vella. Well, at first I saw only busy and noisy traffic on main streets and numerous banks and shops advertising themselves as duty free shops. There were policewomen costumed in pretty red uniforms on a few main intersections. During my walk around the city I discovered except usual in Andorra mountain sceneries a few more small things worth to see. It includes a stone parish church (of St. Stephen; Iglesia de Sant Esteve) built in a Romanesque style in the 12th Century with a monument to a bishop and amazing stone houses hanging on steep rocks. I AT PAS DE LA CASA SKI AREA IN MAY by matcrazy1 Driving from France I passed through the highest pass in the Pyreneen Mountains (see my off the beaten path tip) I drove down to the first community in Andorra called Pas de la Casa which was full of numerous concrete hotels and pensions and didn't look especially great at first sight. However, the Pic Blanc (2705 m; 8875 ft) mountain covered by numerous ski lifts looked great. Pas de la Casa has the biggest ski area and highest lift-served terrain in Andorra. Now, it's linked with Soldeu, 14 km away by road. Leave a Comment

Caldea by trotador Caldea is a spa in Andorra's capital. It has indoor lagoon (huge) and outside area where sometimes you are in the water while is snowing. For the price of EUR 30 you get the admission for three hours to the jacuzzies, waterbeds, aztec bads, saunas and so on... It has restaurant, bar, massages area, beauty, shoping area. It is open from around 9 AM to 11PM. I do not really like the place because I do not like to touch some people when I nude, I mean, with my swimsuit. When I go to these places to relax I like to relax and do not wait in line to use any area. If you go during the weekend think the place will be totally FULL. The building is fantastic, it is made with thousand of crystals and metal. Leave a Comment

Monastery by dlandt Just outside of the small town of Canilo is the monastery at Meritxell. Two turns up the road and you will find the primary center of worship in Andorra. The main building is a tranquil, dark stoned and modern affair, which also houses the Madonna of Andorra. The overview is magnificent. Leave a Comment Directions: 500m south of Canilo, on the only road

Andorra has many old villages and buildings, but none date back past the Roman times. There are two (if not more) Roman foot bridges that still exist in Andorra, but most people will go right past them without knowing. They only take a few minutes to visit and cost nothing. Pont de La Margineda - of the two bridges, this one is the higher, longer, wider span. (see the second photo) Pont de Sant Antoni - the smaller of the two bridges, only ~1m wide and ~10m long. But in my opinion the nicer of the two. (see first picture) The background is still more or less natural mountains and rocks. Pont de la Margineda is being encroached by modern construction and roadways. Directions: Pont de La Margineda - ~500m past Aiyovall, to the right of the La Margineda rotunda. Pont de St Antoni - From Andorra l V., dir. of Sisphony/Anyos. After the first long tunnel, there is a small unmarked pull-off.

A beautiful viewpoint by wadekorzan If you drive north from the capital, Andorra La Vella, towards the center of the country, you´ll see this viewpoint on the right. You have to walk a ways from where you park the car (10 minutes), but the view is fantastic. Follow the path as far as you can and then go down to the lower viewpoint for a spectacular view of the valley. This really came as an unexpected surprise to us, because we were just driving and it was so beautiful we wanted to pull over, so did at the first place we could. We ended up spending about an hour here walking and enjoying the different views. There was snow everywhere, but it wasn´t cold as we had brillaint blue skies. Leave a Comment Directions: On the main road going north from the capital.
