All roads lead to Caldea

by Kidproton

Caldea, to be honest, is a gaping eyesore, the kind that gives you nightmares and makes you question the value of humanity as a whole. HOWEVER: despite being the ugliest, most out of place building in the world (keep in mind there are live goats in a field not 50m from this place) it IS the ýberspa to end all spas. There are multi-level swimming pools, massages, jacuzzis, armoatherapy, just about everything. This place also has the countryýs fanciest restaurant, with surprisingly good food (in Andorra, price and quality are not necessarily related). The club upstairs is run by one of my english students, so ask for Maria and MAKE her practice her English. Muahahaha *thunderclap*

CALDEA - SPA

by trotador

Caldea is a spa in Andorra's capital. It has indoor lagoon (huge) and outside area where sometimes you are in the water while is snowing. For the price of EUR 30 you get the admission for three hours to the jacuzzies, waterbeds, aztec bads, saunas and so on...It has restaurant, bar, massages area, beauty, shoping area.It is open from around 9 AM to 11PM.I do not really like the place because I do not like to touch some people when I nude, I mean, with my swimsuit. When I go to these places to relax I like to relax and do not wait in line to use any area.If you go during the weekend think the place will be totally FULL.The building is fantastic, it is made with thousand of crystals and metal.

Snowboarding

by snowbrdr

I visited Pal/Arinsal, Grau Roig/ Soldeu El Tartar and Pas De la Casa/ Encamp.Pas De la Casa has the best reputation but when I was there in December of 2003 it was death ice with a light sprinkling of man made snow on top, not good. The other resorts had excellent groomed runs, and the weather was perfect, no wind and beautifully sunny. One day was overcast but the snow conditions were excellent so we rode with poor visibility anyway until the lifts closed.

Well, obviously there's skiing. It's what Andorra is famous for (insofar as Andorra is famous). However, when there is no snow you can go hiking out in nature. I recommend the Pesson Lakes (Llac Dels Pessons) which is a long series of pools ranging from tiny to darn big (again, for Andorra. Don't expect Lake Michigan, which is probably bigger than this country). It's a long hike though, so pack provisions because there are no restaurants to greet you at the end of the journey, unlike the Engolasters Lake, for example. Speaking of which, that's an interesting hike as well, with plenty or ruins and the remains of a proto-railroad that was built mainly for mining purposes. Also, there's the Canolich campout in May (if memory serves). As I said earlier, there's quite a few ruins laying around. There are also woods surrounding the lakes, so you can have wonderful picnics. Boars permitting.As...

Santa Coloma Church

by rkyle2

Santa Coloma Church The church at Santa Coloma is one of the oldest churches in Andorra. Originally built in the pre-Romanesque style, it has undergone various alterations over the centuries including the addition of a 12th century bell tower and a 17th century portico on the south wall. The Church has many interesting features including its 12th century wooden icon of Our Lady of Mercy. Unfortunately the splendid Romanesque frescoes of Andorra now lie in the Prussian State Cultural Museum in Berlin.

Winter Sports

Winter SportsProbably Andorra’s most valuable natural resource, heavy winter snow is very conducive to most winter sports. For about six months of the year, Andorra’s well-equipped ski stations have perfect conditions for skiing.

Casa de la Vall

by rkyle2

Casa de la Vall Originally built as a family home in 1580, Casa de la Vall was bought by the General Council in 1702 and is now the seat of the Andorran Parliament. Its architecture includes both civil and military elements. Inside there is an interesting cupboard with seven keys which once held the most important national documents. The cupboard could only be opened by the simultaneous presence of councillors from each of the seven constituencies in the country. There is also a dormitory and a kitchen with magnificent 16th century murals. The Sala de la Justicia is the only courtroom in the whole country and the Sala del Consell is where the parliament still assembles.

Go to Caldea, the Europe's largest recreational spa . You can go there for 3 or 5 hours...it´s very relaxing. And d'ont forget to go to the aquatic bar..is very funny drinking a beverage inside of the water. Caldea is an enormous complex of pools, hot tubs and saunas enclosed in what looks like a futuristic cathedral.Fed by natural thermal springs, the spa complex centres on a 600 sq metre (6450 sq ft) lagoon kept at a constant 32°C (89°F). It's a welcome bit of warmth after a hard day's frolicking in the snow. You can further soak up the serenity with a hydromassage or a dip in the Turkish baths, both of which are included in the three hour entrance ticket..

Andorra la Vella is the capital and has a lot of taxfree shops. You’ve to bargain to become a good price. Compare prices in your own country before buying here !!!For the rest, Andorra-city is an unattractive “smog”-town
