Velden Restaurants

Goritschnigg's Wurstsalon and Steakhouse is a family-run restaurant spitting distance from the lakeside in Velden am Wörthersee and is located next to the Schlosshotel Velden. By day it is a self-service sausage bar - with the sausages being in terms of quality somewhat better than your typical banger and there is typical Austrian "Hausmannskost" - staples such as Wiener Schnitzel, Then from 7pm onwards it is transformed into a steakhouse, with sumptuous steaks. As with all places in Velden, it is packed in summer and so a reservation might be a good idea, unless you are eating very late. Pricewise it is quite expensive - a good steak with salad bar (refillable) will set you back around EUR 20 and wine is often over EUR 3.50 for an Achterl (.125l glass). For beer it is one of the few places in Velden where you can get a 0.5 l beer - most either do 0.33l or 0.3l bottles or glasses respectively.

Favorite Dish: I can thoroughly recommend the Farmer's steak with salad bar and jacket potato - a real meal and great washed down with some Italian red wine or a large beer.
