We enjoyed our walk about the little town of Melk because it seemed to be SO untouristy. Few, if any specialist "souvenir shops", just bakers, butchers and bakers, flower shops, banks a post office and business offices.
A few clothes shops - some displaying items a tourist might need like a warm or rain proof jacket.
If you wanted to buy a small gift here to take home I an sure you would have found one.
But there was no sign of in your face. tawdry, tourist specific shops.

This shop offers a plentiful selection at books about Melk Abbey, view cards as well as a multiplicity from traditional souvenirs.
Impressively is the big wood clock, approximately 2 meters high that decorated the store room.
Especially remarkable, is the wood embroidery, and the hand-made wood mechanism of the clock.
What to buy: Books, art, local craft, gifts, view cards, souvenirs, and many others.
