There is also a lot to discover in the surroundings of Retz, do it by car, per pedes or by bike.

This area is called "Weinviertel" and is one of the four quarters of Lower Austria (see globetrott's "Bundesland Niederösterreich"-page). The name comes from plenty of vineyards. Most of them are planted with Grüner Veltliner (it is the main variety in Austria) but in Retz you can find some great red wines too ... just taste them and the wine shops in the town.

Bring a camera with you ..... you will see that there is a lot to photograph here!

Don´t be lazy as I was and take pictures...
