 | Schneeberg Things To Do | Tips 11 - 20 of 102 | | Popular Things To Do | Other Things To Do Tips | All Tips (102) The train passes through two short curving tunnels before reaching the Hochschneeberg station. Here you will see lots of people rushing to get into our train for their seats (to go back downhill). Of course there are people who attempt to walk downhill....I think it may take you some 4-5 hours to walk!!! When we got there the weather was fine but very very windy - at some stretch I found it hard to walk in a straight line!!!. R'ber even in summer, you will still need at least a cardigan. I kept warm with a jacket. You can wonder around and look at beautiful mountain flora and fauna, there are places for children to play, there is a guesthouse serving food with live music but a bit smokey!!! and yes - there is a very clean washroom there, and a nice litte church with some history and of course the panaromic view of the valley and forest. The picture is of the Krummbach valley below. Leave a Comment

There is a nice quiant little chapel which overlooks the Krummbach valley below. Austrian Emperor Franz Josef used to frequent this mountain resort in his private wagon. The memory of Franz Josef's wife "Sisi", who was assassinated shortly after the railway was opened, is honoured in this mountain top Elisabeth Chapel. But on other hand, while I was at the foyer of the church entrance, there is this phone looking gadget and you put in 50 cents euro and press English you get to listen to one helluva information. It is said that the building structure was originally intended to be for weather monitoring house, but becos they ran out of money, the project was abandoned...and then somehow it became this chapel!!! This is a picture of Oliver enjoying every morsels of the bread-like cake. There are two choices; topfenbuchtel or the local speciality powidlbuchtel. . The plum jam is rather sour - it is to me not plum but rather taste more like prunes!!! and the other topfen - which is curd cheese filling. I rather prefer the cheese filling - not big on prunes though i love plum. Both has icing sugar sprinkling. 4 of us bought 3 and one sort of fell onto the ground...so we only shared the 2 but it was rather sumptous treat on board the train. You can buy it either on the way up or down...i suggest the way up!!! Leave a Comment

This is the old steam train you could consider riding up...there is an additional surcharge of 5 euro. Do you know that the train track has been built before the turn of the century - so this resort mountain has been frequented since then - it was a beloved place for one of the Austrian king. Very brisk business as soon as the train pullover... everybody is hungry!!!! Ask for takeaway so that they foil it, and for a fork though.....it is quite huge and becos it is warm it makes it even more scrumptious - very good for sharing on the way up in the train. Leave a Comment

'Why you always take photos of me???' Yes, Sharrie reproached me but, guys, what are you thinking. Isn't she worth to take a photo of her? See, Sharrie, that's what I am thinking as well. ;-) Leave a Comment

...on the way to the top of the mountain. The only one who looked at me when I called "cheese" was that dog. Leave a Comment

Again it took so long time to take a photo of an object. And again noone was waiting for me. But at least I can show you an almost perfect photo. ;-) The 'Elisabethkircherl' without people in front of it. Leave a Comment

And I have to admit, I prefer the old one as well. Although the new one is more comfortable. Up to two times a day you have the possibility to take such a train. The price: 31 Euro. Leave a Comment
