This restaurant is placed exactly in the middle of the station Semmering, in the proximity of the ski tracks, of everywhere visibly, and is a special attraction for the tourists.
Very modern, and elegantly, this house, offers to the many guests, a comfortable atmosphere and an unforgettable experience.
Exquisite pizza, pasta, and other delicious Italian foods can you enjoy, in this restaurant.

We were again in Semmering, in a wintry Saturday afternoon, and we wanted eats, a sweet dessert.
To the cafe pastry shop, in centre of Semmering, we found something which we sought.
There are exquisite candies, good delicacies, and good coffee kinds, all something which makes the life beautiful.

Buchtelwirt is a small mountain-restaurant almost everybody passes by, when taking the Salamander-train to Schneeberg because this small mountain-restaurant is directely at the "station Baumgartner" in a hight of 1.400 meters above sea-level, it is the last-but-one station of the train and there will be a "technical" stop-over of 5 minutes, a place to powder your nose, enjoy the landscape, and take photographs !
There is a small restaurant inside the building and a covered terrace with a scenic view, a great place to spend your time, while waiting for the train.
Taste Buchteln : a fluffy cake with a lot of yeast inside and filled with plum-stew (Powidl) or with curd-cheese and raisins. Both sorts are 2,50 euros each and upon demand they will also pack them to be taken away. Leave a Comment

This lovely wooden building in the traditional style dates back to the year 1666 and it is at the same time also one of the finest places to dine in the area. In the back of the building there is a small lake, so this is where the name comes from.
Even when you are not really hungry, at least take a look at the find old decorations around the house, it is nice to see them !
The restaurant is open 11.00a.m. - 10.30p.m.
daily except Tuesday + Wednesday !
I just had a coffee and an applestrudel, next time I will have lunch or dinner there, they got many awards for their excellent cuisine ! Berghaus Hochschneeberg is in a distance of maybe 300 meters from the station "Hochschneeberg" of the Salamander-train, in a hight of 1800 meters above sea-level. This building has a very long tradition and history, even the austrian Emperor Kaiser Franz Josef was here and even spent a night in the hotel ! And when you take a look at the great furniture and decorations of this restaurant you may think that not a lot has changed since the time of the emperor. Take a look around into the various side-rooms, it is one of the most interesting buildings I ever saw !
game-dishes are excellent in this restaurant and for desert I may highly recommend : Schneeberg-Krapfen, a local speciality : see my local customs-tip !
