Good for: Business
From Amstetten on the main Vienna to Linz train line (most but not all trains stop there) you have a train about every hour until 9 pm, takes about 30 minutes
The "Stadt Waidhofen an der Ybbs" station is a bit closer to the town center then "Waidhofen an der Ybbs" main station, but there are no services at all at this station, at the moment even not a ticket vending machine.
Unique Suggestions: If you don´t mind a short walk (follow signs saying "Fusweg..." or "Zur Austellung") it´s all right to use this station, but if you have problems walking or a lot of luggage use the main station.
For tickes: if the is no ticket counter or vending machine (or boken vending machine) at the station you have to look for the conductor (not allways easy) to avoid paying a surcharge or fine for not having a ticket.
You travel along the Enns river throu hills and mountains and some medieval ruins to Waidhofen an der Ybbs. By train you will have to change in Kastenreith, most likely the other train wil be waiting allready, train travel time is about 1,5 hours
There are bicycle rentals in Steyr and all the trains in that area have bicycle compartments.
