Bad Ischl

Each year on August 18th, the community of Bad Ischl still celebrates Emperor Franz Joseph I. Birthday, which he used to celebrate in Bad Ischl until his death. A red carpet is being rolled out, a mass is read in the local church, people dress up in Trachten (folklore) or imperial costumes, they sing hymns, old songs and play music. The owner of the Imperial Villa, a descendant of the Habsburg dynasty, gives a speech after a pageant from the church to the villa.

Bad Ischl

From the 16th to the 19th century, there were Traunreiter/Traun Riders in the area of the Salzkammergut. They had to transport the salt and other local goods across the mountains
and pick them up from the rivers. They had special outfits and were highly acknowledged
in the mountainous terrain. This image on the wall portrays a Traunrider in a colorful mosaic.
