As you see from the map, the province is divided into different regions that are often called after the natural names such as Salzkammergut where we stayed, Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen, Sauwald, etc.
We stayed in the south-west of the province and managed to see quite a lot there including our trip to the border with Kärnten to see the Dachtein Caves and Mount Krippenstein.
Linz is the province’s capital and main city.
I would say all towns and cities are so to say capitals of their own small areas.
This province is rich in pure water: rivers, lakes and ponds; mountains such as Hell Mountains, Dead Mountains, Hausruck and others.
I wonder why they called the mountain range “Hell Mountains”. I forgot to ask. I should ask the locals next time when I visit the area!
Fondest memory: Our stay in Weyregg at Lake Attersee and excursions about the province.

If you like sweet flavoured food and you are in Austria, you absolutely have to try ´Kaiserschmarren´! If you manage to eat everything on your plate, I must congratulate you, because they usually build a mountain of the delicious food on your plate.
It is a scrambled pancake, baked well, which is covered in powdered sugar and has some stewed red forest fruits on the side. It is truly magnificent.
