Favorite thing: What can I say about the one in my photo!
I don't know if he is an Austrian breed or what, but I have never seen one like him before.
I was glad he was on a leash.
Does anybody know if he is a particular breed?

Favorite thing: Most any visitor will certainly remember their walk along the Esplanade. Making that memory more memorable is the number of Swans, ducks, and coots on the lake at any given time. These beautiful creatures add to the vibrant quality of the lake.
Many a visitor or resident will stop along the path and gaze at or feed (not permitted by the way) the beautiful birds, especially the swans. If you're lucky, you'll get to see the swans in flight. Certainly a sight to see.
Fondest memory: Standing at the Esplanade during my first trip to Austria (back in 1999), I was fortunate enough to see the swans fly from one part of the Traunsee to another part. They're not exactly the most graceful of the avian species, but their beauty certainly makes them look very graceful!

Favorite thing: Take some time to explore the castle from inside
.
Fondest memory: There are no special restrictions, so you may walk up the stairs to see the arcadies from the top and walk all the way around the upper arcades for great views on the castle

Favorite thing: Its a cosy little town-square, far away from main trafic roads.
In the old part of town, car-trafic is restricted to the local residents only in some streets.
Fondest memory: and all houses are so beautiful and clean and well kept.
Its a pleasure to have a walk there !

Favorite thing: These Arcadies simply look great with the nice old-fashioned collumns
.
Fondest memory: and everything is also beautifully decorated, as the castle is mainly used as a wedding-registration-office ( Standesamt )

Favorite thing: look at this lovely old pharmacy. A pharmacy certainly was a good business in a place like Gmunden, where plenty of people came in order to recover after illness in the great air of Traunsee
Fondest memory: Gmunden is an "AIR-Spa" - we call it "Luftkurort" - and it means this clean and fresh air helps people with certain diseases to recover after astmathic problems

Favorite thing: This lovely gothic church was rebuilt into Baroque style in the 18th centrury
Fondest memory: many of the small streets in the old town of Gmunden, you may WALK only, and car-traffic, where-ever it is possible at all , will be restricted to the inhabitants of these streets

Favorite thing: Watch out for the many baroque fassades - Gmunden became wealthy by it's ceramic-production and the mild climate at the lake
Fondest memory: Have a look for "Gmundner Ceramics" - it mostly has a white color with green stripes

Fondest memory: take a walk along the lake and have a great view on the mountains - some of them have a peak covered with snow for 10 months a year.
This pic is taken inside the "Toskana Park", just a few steps from Schloß Orth

Fondest memory: in front of the townhall there is a big square, where all sorts of activities and markets will take place, and just a few steps from here you may enter one of the ships to make a small cruise on Traunsee
