Pottery has been in the Traunsee area for more than 350 years. All the materials required for making the ceramic were located nearby, plus the rich citizens who could afford it lived the area as well. With so many years to perfect their craft, it's no wonder the Gmundner Keramik company makes some of the worlds most beautiful ceramic.
In Gmunden, you are sure to find a shop that carries these beautiful pieces (there's one across from the Rathausplatz). Most common are their sets with rippled-green design. However, many more designs are available. They're are priced reasonably and worth the investment.

As in most places in Europe, larger cities and towns all have a number of Treffpunkten (or at least one). Gmunden is not to be left out.
Should you make plans to meet someone in Gmunden, the Treffpunkt Austria is a great place to meet. To be honest, I think this was a store or a tourist location, I didn't think of getting closer to find out. Nonetheless, it's location on the main square and the big sign serve the purpose.
