This is a lovely little shop on the road that runs along the lake going to the funicular. It is probably the premier place in Hallstatt for the exquisite handpainted glassware that is prevalent in the area.
What to buy: Beautiful wine glasses and other glassware such as salad bowls, vases etc are delicately and colourfully painted in floral and other designs. The glassware is available in other shops in Hallstatt, but I found this one to have the best range.
What to pay: You can expect to pay quite substantially for these items. Somewhere in in the vicinity of 20 -30 euro per glass would not be unusual. Well worth it, I would think.

Address: On the road along the lake.
There aren't words to describe this shop. Just enlarge the pics and see for yourself. The shop sells mainly gifts which have been made by and large from local salt. It is unbelievable.
What to buy: There are soaps and candles and some very interesting salt blends for use in the kitchen. I bought some salad salt which was the lovely pink salt crystals mixed with various herbs and prettily wrapped in cellophone with a bow. It makes an unusual and attractive gift.
What to pay: I paid a meagre 3.90 euro for my salad salt.

We notice a shop that sells all sorts of soaps. The moment you enter the shop, you can smell the fragrances…it’s so nice! There are lavender and roses just to name a few. The price are much cheaper than in Wien…we should have bought more down there! You can also buy the soaps for souvenirs…they are very nice!
What to buy: Soaps & More Soaps With Nice fragrances!
What to pay: It All Depend On What You Wanted To Buy.

I noticed only a few small shops in Hallstatt, but the one that's right across from the Heimatmuseum seemed to carry the best selection of tourist-oriented items as well as some interesting handicrafts.

Forget the made-in-china cheap souvenirs, Hallstatt has some lovely handicrafts for sale. I bought one of these beautiful wooden carving + crystal decoration which I hang by the window.
