When Hiking up to the Hinterer Langbathsee, be sure to take a view of the valley below. If you're lucky, you'll get the early or late fog settling in and it's just beautiful.
The Hinterer Langbathsee's location is by far it's best characteristic. It is surrounded by moutains, and beautiful woods. The Langbathseebach flows from the Hinterer Langbathsee to the Vorderer Langbathsee and the view to the valley below is quite a sight. While small, it is definitely one of Austria's little gems.
Fondest memory: The one thing I'll never forget about the Hinterer Langbathsee was that when we visited, it was almost completely frozen over. However, the ice was fairly thin and when you threw a rock on the ice, the sound that emanated was quite a marvel of physics. It's impossible to explain but it was definitely something I will never forget. You can see the rocks sitting on the ice in the picture.
