Schnaitl Bräu in Gundershausen is a great restaurant that I may highly recommend for an excursion : Lothar found it in the internet, and it was a really reat choice :
They have their own brewery and excellent cuisine for reasonable prices !
They have a large restaurant inside, with various side-rooms for festivities and our favorite was the great restaurant-beer-garden with quite small tables and simple benches, But the weather was much too warm to sit inside...
Favorite Dish: I started with "Eierschwammerl und Knoedel" , This kind of yellow mushrooms have a short season at the end of August and they were served with roasted dumpling-slices - delicious !!
For desert we shared a "Kaiserschmarrn" - a sort of think, sweet omlet with raisins, it was once created as a desert for empress Sissi, BUT she was afraid of the calories and refused to eat it. Her husband, Kaiser Franz Joseph liked it a lot and it became one of his favorite deserts.

Waldgasthof Lindlbauer is in the outskirts of Holzoester, and it is the closest restaurant and hotel that you may find next to Fûcking. This restaurant is well known for game-dishes and other local specialities. I stayed there 2 days in the hotel and so I could also enjoy the great breakfast there ! Unfortunately the restaurant was closed that weekend because of a private festivity .
Favorite Dish: I saw the menu with lots of great game-dishes at reasonable prices and I will certainly return one day to test their cuisine. It is certainly a special feature of this restaurant, that most of the meat will be produced by the deer outside the restaurant, so you will not get anything that was deep-frozen first and transported across Europe...
Lothar(lerch) had lunch here and liked it a lot, when he first came to Fûcking some time ago.
