I was fortunate that VTer globetrott was kind enough to drive me from Salzburg to the lake district, including Mondsee. The ride is actually quite beautiful, especially as you approach the lake and see the mountains surrounding the lake. You'll be coming in on the A1 Autobahn that links Salzburg and Vienna.
