If you are travelling on a budget, you should consider bringing your own snacks when doing a day trip to Sankt Wolfgang. We went into some bakeries to buy something and found the prices somewhat ridiculous, so we were happy that we had brought some biscuits and we had them by the lake.
I also must say that the assistants in the bakeries were all very unfriendly and also could not give us any information on the ingredients in their goods (we wanted to know if they contained milk), so that was not such a good experience. I think they should be a little friendlier because at least the tourists bring all the money to the place...
This is why my advice is to just not bother with those shops but just bring biscuits, some fruits or what you like in the afternoon and sit by the lake and enjoy the view :-)

In the summertime, the whole town of St. Wolfgang can be crowded with tourists, but if you head here before the onslaught arrives, you'll be rewarded by a rather sleepy lakeside slice of heaven.
I was here in June and it really wasn't crowded at all. The weather was pleasant, but not hot enough to inspire jumping into the lake and therefore the vacationing Austrians hadn't overwhelmed the town yet.

Ok the famous White Horse Inn has a lovely terrace and restaurant right on the lake front.
Everybody want to sit here and enjoy the view but its probably the most expensive coffee in town here!
