Hüttenkogel by robertgaz Not far from Badgastein is an easy hiking trail around the Hüttenkogel mountain which is 2,231m above sea level. This is a short but highly rewarding walk with impressive views around the Hohen Tauern National Park which encompasses one of the most beautiful areas in this part of the Alps. Leave a Comment

by Tolik More about the Klamm Cave: The name of the cave was first mentioned in 1428. In the 16th and 18th century the followers of Luther used to have their secret meetings in the cave. Richard Erlmoser, the cave’s host, erected a Protestant memorial in the Fledermaus-Dom (the Bat Cathedral) for the 500th anniversary celebrations of Martin Luther, which was consecrated in 1983. Dorffest by Bregman If you travel in the countryside be on the lookout for country fairs, or Dorffest. Besides the many stands selling the local dishes you could see a parade. You'll have a chance to see how the locals earn their living and have a glimpse of traditional customs and the old way of life.

The fountain in Altböckstein. by Theomis During our stay in Badgastein we rented bikes (at our hotel, but there is also a sports store near the train station where you can rent bikes) and went on a bike ride to Böckstein, south of Badgastein. It's a short but beautiful trip. Unlike the streets of Badgastein, there are no steep hills on the way to Böckstein. Leave a Comment
