Read the menu by Manara The clientele of the Kaisehof Bistro consists mainly of those staying at this apartment-hotel, but it is open to the public as well. The staff are nice and welcoming, the food is good and the setting is elegant. In addition, the tables near the windows have a wonderful view of the Gastein Valley. There is also a large terrace to eat outside in the summer. One of the advantages is that there is space to park cars, something precious in Bad Gastein! It is open at breakfast time (from 7.30 to 10.00 am) and for dinner, but not for lunch. It is open for coffee and cakes (as well as the bar) from 15.30 and it starts serving dinners at 18.30. Prices are very reasonable for such a fine place, especially on Saturdays, when there is a grill buffet at EUR 16.90 per person (including taxes). It includes a salad bar, three types of meat, two types of sausages, grilled vegetables, jacket potatoes and dessert. On Mondays there is an Italian buffet. Dinner is a-la-carte on the other days.
In this restaurant you can find a good Tafelspitz. by Manara Although I like very much the typical Austrian cuisine, it is nice to have something different, every now and then. This is why I had a meal at Sancho. The restaurant is furnished in rustic Austrian style, and the menu is a mix of Austrian and Mexican dishes. Nobody in the staff (at least those I could see when I was there) is from Mexico, and the recipes may not be strictly in line with the tradition. Anyway, the food is pleasant enough, not expensive, and the service is good.
Turkey fajitas. I was a bit suprised by the guacamole: it had a strong flavour of parsley, and none at all of cilantro. Leave a Comment Theme: MexicanPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Kaiser Franz Josef Strasse 1Phone: 6434 21762Directions: By the waterfall.

by Manara K.u.K. always accompanied any reference to the name of the Emperor and everything related with him. The acronym stands for Royal and Imperial, so the name of this restaurant and café evokes nostalgia for those times. Actually, although nicely furnished and decorated, the restaurant is not as formal as one may imagine, and not expensive. It is closed on Tuesdays.
I went there with the precise intention of having a Wiener Schnitzel of veal, as in the best tradition, whereas in this region most restaurants make it of pork or turkey. Faithful to its name, the restaurant makes a perfect Wiener Schnitzel in the best tradition. As a starter I recommend the Hochzeitsuppe, a speciality from this region, a broth with finely minced herbs and vegetables, light and very tasty. In fact some of the windows command a nice view of it.

The bar by Manara Dining in the open air is very nice in summer, but it becomes wonderful when the view is beautiful as the one you get here. This café-restaurant (and bar!) is just out of the town, with a panoramic view of the Gastein valley. Is is located on the charming Kaiser-Wilhelm-Promenade, just before the road gets into the wood. When you look around you see beauty on all sides. Food becomes much more enjoyable in this atmosphere. I recommend to finish your meal with a small glass of schnaps.
The typical local fare. Personally I like the Wiener Schnitzel, and the one they serve here, made with pork, is very good. Especially with a half-litre of Goesser beer.
