Grossarl isn't a big village. But you can see there little streets with houses in typical Austrian style.

Grossarl Restaurants

  • Food at the Alm

You can sit inside or outside. It's not a high quality cuisine, more take away but great for a short break. I had grilled sausages with fries.

  • Apres Ski

Directly after skiing you can go to the "Schirmbar". It's a real meating point for thirsty people...It's allways very crowded. Sometimes you can watch some "tourist table dancing". If you leave the bar (still wearing ski boots) it gets sometimes very difficult to carry yourself and the ski home... Ski dress and ski boots, sunglasses even if it is...

From Hanover we had a 7 hour drive to Grossarl. The motorway/interstate goes until Salzburg. From there it is just about one hour through the valleys...

Our pension was near the slope, so we could start skiing from there. If you live away from the slope you always can take the Ski bus. I'ts running twice every hour.

If you come to Grossarl..of course for skiing:

The ski lift Grossarltal whisked us up to the heights for unforgettable days of skiing.
    - 250 km marked hiking trails
    - 40 alpine huts serving food and beverages
    - Part of the area is in Nationalpark Hohe Tauern
    - 80 km marked mountain bike trails

Equipment: Skiing clothes. Skis and boots are for rental, if you don't own them.
