Salzburg, Austria. The strip of bars leaves nothing to be desired. The drinks were fairly priced, the company was great, and everyone I met really seemed to like to chat about america and what you've done on your trip.
Dress Code: Dress Tip: Europeans don't wear tennis shoes unless playing a sport, so find yourself a good pair of leathers to wear (That's what I have found at least)

Most of the Salzburg nightlife occurs along the river on the Altstadt side. There's the odd nightclub, a few Irish clubs, etc. It's probably better to start off in a beer garden before hitting the bars/ clubs. The beer gardens are more for the casual drinker and conversationalists (...and beer tasting!).

Head towards the banks of the river in the old town area and you will find there are loads of bars cram packed full with people and with a lively atmosphere. There are 2 Irish pubs and an Australian bar as well as other clubby Austrian places. On the otherside of town in a street off Linzergasse (first street left, where the sausage takeout place is) is a great cocktail bar - Havanna. Go to New Born in Wolf-Dietrich Gasse for live music (often Latin American) with a small cover charge.

Salburg's nightlife is all concentrated along the river Salzach, where you will find many bars and pubs, some of whish are really not bad. There are a couple of Irish pubs, an Australian bar and even a metal bar. Being a small town Salzburg won't offer so much night entertainment for those who are going to spend a long time in town... I spent 4 months there and most weekends I preferred to stay at home with soem friends instead of visiting the same old places...
Dress Code: Casual will be just fine, tehre are a couple of more stylish clubs where preppy clothes are requires. Don't wear sneakers if you're going to enter any club, in Europe they often select on that criteria...

Yep, this Salzburg page will intentionally be served with very little Mozart and almost no Sound of Music references. Why? Well, I like Mozart's music, but I don't really care much about where he was...
