We took the Sound of Music tour in the morning. The 'Sound of Music' tour took us to Helbrunn Castle and Gardens, Mondsee (cathedral in photos 2 and 3), Leopoldskron and all the way to St. Gilgen and the lake in Wolfgangsee (last two pictures). Our son won a prize for knowing the name of Maria's mountain (about 10km away from the convent/school). We cheated (the guide said we could) and looked it up in the SOM book we had bought at Lake Chiemsee. He also drew a picture (in the first photo with him) which all the other people on the tour admired.
Helpfulness
Mondsee boasts a beautifull lake with sailing and other watersport facilities. It has lovely little coffee shops and pastry shops where you can sit and relax. The von Trapps (Sound of Music) was actually married in the church at Nonnberg Abbey, but Hollywood decided to use the church at Mondsee instead.
