This is the selfservice area of Restaurant Schmittenhoehe directely in the building, where the cablecar ends. The restaurant has a great panoramaview at various terraces and also inside behind giant glass-walls like shown in my 3rd photo.

Favorite Dish: I just had some cake and coffee in the selfservice-area and as I remember there is even a small area where you can eat the things that you had taken with you in your rucksack.

Hochzelleralm is in a short walking-distance from the cablecar to Schmittenhoehe, I think it was about 20 minutes to walk on an easy path and almost flat. They had a sunny terrace as well, but I prefered to sit inside in the restaurant that has some very interesting decorations as shown in my photos !

Favorite Dish: I just had some sausages and 2 large glasses of fresh Buttermilk.
Next time I will try their Marillenknödel, that are sweat dumplings filled with apricots, an austrian speciality !

When you are at the airport of Zell am See, dont miss to go to their restaurant there ! They have big portions and the dishes taste really great and the best is the view of the airplanes coming down and starting. That is a really great place to wait untill it is your turn to take a flight over the alps like I did !
They have many seats inside and a large terrace next to the airfield !

Favorite Dish: I had Kaesespätzle with a mixed salad and Almdudler, my favorite drink.

Plenty of outlets and supermarkets with diverse cuisine and variety. There are supermarkets and restaurants that serve muslim halal food which was apt for us ("Basmati-Antonio" and "Ali Baba" - 2 min from Railway station. One Arabic food joint is right opposite the railway station). One supermarket which is located next to "Basmati-Antonio" restaurant is open until 23:00 hrs (a big relief in Europe where most shops close by 18:00)....opposite the Postbus station, near the Church.

The restaurant of the hotel I stayed in - Vitalhotel Glocknerhof - had a very good restaurant, they have spoiled us for the New Year's Eve menu. Though I did not really had the new year's eve celebration here but at the Grand Hotel of Zell am See, on the lake.

Between ski runs you need to take a break and in Zell am See you have some restaurants with outside terraces to have a snack, lunch and a drink. As you can see in my picture I love to have one, to three beers in a day of skiing.

If you are looking for supermarkets are Zell Am See, there are two Billa supermarkets in town. One smaller one is located conveniently at the town centre near to the St Hippolyt Parish Church, while a bigger one is located at Mozartsrasse, which is the road on the left of the main road Brucker Bundestrasse (just after the police station and tourist information centre).

The Billa supermarkets sell all sorts of food, including sandwiches, milk, vegetables, fruits etc which will be useful if you decide to cook your own meals to save some money.

If you are staying at Hotel Berner, the price of the stay will include breakfast and dinner as well as the afternoon cakes and drinks, so almost all meals are covered. The meals at Hotel Berner are good and the ambience is very nice with all the beautiful Austrian furnitures and setting. The breakfast consists of a choice of breads, cheese, hams etc as well as cornflakes, milk, juices etc. The dinner menu is different everyday, and the dishes range from fish, chicken, pork etc. Afternoon cakes are also very nice, with coffee or tea.
