The statue is a monument to Major Franz Hackher who defended the Schlossberg fortress with less than a thousand soldiers against Napoleon's more than three times larger troops. It stands on the top of the hill, among the fortress ruins.
This beautiful well stands on the top of the Schlossberg, among the ruins of the fortress. The cistern was built in the 16th century, the well canopy was added at the end of the 19th. It has a capacity of 900,000 litres (one of the largest construction of its kind). Today it serves as a reservoir for firefighters.

The old core of the castle was designed in Gothic style, while later on the Baroque stucco was added on its facade. Nowadays the castle houses regional museum of the town of Leibnitz.
