 | Graz Transportation | Tips 11 - 20 of 44 | | Popular Transportation | Other Transportation Tips | All Tips (44) Graz is not a too large city, and all sights can be comfortably visited by bicycle. That the city is prepared for bikers is proved - among others - by the existence of this bicycle parking place (by Herrengasse). Maybe it is not such a big deal, but I was impressed anyway. An excellent and very economic way to come - even for a short visit - to Graz are the Ryanair flights from London Stansted. You can fly from London Stansted to Graz for the price difference for a reasonable dinner between England and Graz. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

There are 6 tram lines and a big number of bus lines. You can buy 1-hour tickets (€ 1,7) and 24-hour tickets (€ 3,4) from the driver. Weekly tickets (€ 8,2) and monthly tickets (€ 28,3) are available at nearly all tobacconist's or at the ticket office on the Jakominiplatz. Don't forget to cancel your ticket at the orange cancelling machines! For timetables look at www.gvb.at On the picture you can see the Jakominiplatz. It's the square where all tram lines are crossing. Leave a Comment

Graz airport is a very small airport, about 5km outside Graz. Once you leave the terminal it's a short walk to the train station from where there is a regular service to the main station in Graz. The journey time is about 10 minutes and tickets cost only a couple of Euro. We bought a 24 hour transport pass for Graz which covered the trains, buses and trams though central Graz is so compact we only used it for the journey in from the airport. Getting to Graz is pretty easy, since it has really good connections. If you're coming by car or a train, here are the distances: Vienna 200km Munich 390km Frankfurt 800km Zurich 740km Trieste 370km Venice 410km Budapest 300km Prague 470km Zagreb 180km. If you're coming by air, Ryanair has pretty cheap flights to Graz Airport. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

It's probably a better idea to use these winding stairs on the way down than for climbing up, though it's quite a long way in both directions (between the Clock Tower and Schlossbergplatz). The view is nice on the way and there are benches in several places, so it's possible to take a break. Leave a Comment

Public transportation, in and out of the city center, is very well organized with both tram and bus. Grazer tram is speed, comfortable and very punctual and definetely the best way to get into the heart of the city, especially to those who arived here by car. It is not easy to find free parking place inside the old core of the city, therefore it is recommendable to leave you car in the outskirts of the town and get there by the tram.
