There is a cablecar taking you up to Bürgeralpe - a great place to watch the panorama-view of the surrounding mountains and in winter it is also a great place to ski ! In general the prices are more expensive in winter - 12,90 is the returnticket in summer, including "Holzknechtland" , a museum about wood-choppers.
In winter the dayticket for unlimited rides of the cablecar is 24 Euros.
The cablecar is operated between 09.00 a.m. and 05.00 p.m.
The station is in Wienerstrasse, just a few meters from Hotel 3 Hasen.
You may click here in order to see a live-cam on top of Bürgeralpe
you have to click once more on the bottom for "Live-Bild"!

Mariazeller Bahn, (the official OEBB-abbreviation is MzB) is a narrow-gauge-railway (760 mm) connecting Mariazell with St.Pölten, where you have to change to the trains with the ordinary track. The trainline dates back to the year 1898 and was finished in 1906. At first they had just steam-trains and since 1910 they also have electric trains, like the one on my picture.
Also the track and the landscape you will pass through is terrific, as you go over viaducts and through high mountains !
