Stift Neuberg
In the higher parts of the Mürzvalley Duke Otto “the Cheerful” established in 1327 with the monks of Heiligenkreuz a Cistercian Convict or “Stift”. For centuries the abbey fulfilled it’s role as a cultural centre. Much later this “Stift” was used as a Summer-residence for Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria.
