In the centre of hall you will find the "Bergbaumuseum", that is the mining-museum, showing how the salt was won out of the mountains around Hall in Tirol and the hard life of the miners of these days.
Take one of the guided tours or take a look and click here for some pics of the interior of that museum !

Münzertor is one of the former towngates of the medieval townwalls and it dates back to the year 1480. You will find this gate next to the Münzerturm of Haseneck castle and it is still used for the local cartrafic in this part of the town.
Dont miss to step up the Münzerturm for a great panorama-view of Hall in Tirol and its surrounding mountains !

Jesuitenkirche is dating back to the year 1608 and you will find it in the east of Hall in Tirol, next to Damenstift and Stiftskirche. Take a look inside as well for its beautiful ornaments and great interior, the church is normally open for tourists all day long and you will be able to take a look through the beautiful iron-fence, that you can see in my last photo.
Allerheiligenkirche is another name for that same church.

When you are on vaction in Hall in Tirol, Schloss Ambras in the outskirts of Innsbruck is certainly worth a halfday-trip, as it is one of the most beautiful palaces of Austria and it is also just 8km from Hall in Tirol, easy to get there by train or even better by car: Take the highway A12 and get out again at the highway-exit "Innsbruck Ost"
Schloss Ambras has a great collection of medieval armouries and a giant hall with beautiful and ornate frescoes all over. What I liked very much about Schloss Ambrass is the fact, that photography is no problem at all there throughout the palace and its great gardens ! Calculate at least 1-2 hours for this castle, there is a guided tour or you do it on your own, both is possible !
There is also a nice castle-restaurant in the innercourt of Schloss Ambras !

This great church is very close to Hall in Tirol and you will pass by it on the highway A12, when driving from Hall in Tirol in direction Kufstein and Salzburg.(Unfortunately only in THIS direction, from the other direction you see it from the highway, but cannot go there!). The best way to go to this church is from a seperate car-parking along the highway, there will be brown signposts for it before you get to that carpark.
Karlskirche in Volders dates back to the year 1620 and Martin Knoller made the wonderful frescoes of the ceiling and the painting of the main altar.
The church is open for visitors all day long and you will be able to take a look through the ornate iron-fence that is worth seeing as well. Its a pilgrim-church and the church for the monastery-school next to it.

an attractive excursion from Hall is the Hinterhorner Alm which is reached via Gnadenwald (situated on a plateau northeast above Hall) from where a toll road leads up to Hinterhorner Alm at 1600 m. From here you have a spectacular view down to the valley of the river Inn and a convenient start for easy panoramic hikes as the one to Walderalm.
On Hinterhorner Alm Iwas unable to resist their great Apfelstrudel. While I was eating it I noticed that I got interested exotic spectators like this lama. No wonder, there is no Apfelstrudel in Bolivia.

Innsbruck's nice underrated neighbour

Only few of the tourists who visit Innsbuck for its nice old city find their way to the nearby Hall which is larger and at least as attractive as the old city of Innsbruck - and far less touristy.
