You can drive easily to Hall in Tirol on the highway A12, always take direction Innsbruck and Hall in Tirol is just 8km from there. Hall in Tirol has 2 exits on the highway !
In case that you prefer to take the highway: For all of the highways in Austria you need to have a sticker fixed behind the windscreen of your car. A sticker for 10 days is about 8 euros, there is a sticker for 2 months as well and for the full year, or even 14 months like from Nov.1st, 2010 till January 31st 2012.
There are sidestreets as well that will take you to all towns and villages of Tirol as well without that highway-sticker, but a lot slower than on the highways.

There might be a few exceptions for handicapped people and of course for local people with a special permission, BUT in principal you should be prepared that you cannot drive into the very centre of town. Instead you have to walk, partly over cobbled stones, but everything that is worth seeing is in the centre of town, around the old Rathaus and St. Nikolaus-church and a few side-streets.
You also should know that from the place where you park your car to the old part of the city, you will always have to step up some (partly quite steep) stairs in order to get to the old part of town, that was built on top of a small hill.

It is very easy to get to Hall in Tirol by train, because this town is one of the bigger stations of the main trainsystem of Tirol and there are S-bahn-trains from Innsbruck as well.
The buses 4, S and D of the Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe bus-system will go there as well !
From the train-station it is just a short walk to the old towncentre of Hall in Tirol with all of the many sights and great buildings of the medieval towncentre.

Innsbruck's nice underrated neighbour

Only few of the tourists who visit Innsbuck for its nice old city find their way to the nearby Hall which is larger and at least as attractive as the old city of Innsbruck - and far less touristy.
