The centre of Innsbruck with "Goldenes Dachl" by globetrott Innsbruck is a rather small city and the airport of Innsbruck is really close to the centre of town. That way you will not have to pay a lot of money to get there by taxi. No matter, if you arrive by train, private car or airplane It might be a great idea to take a glacier-flight in a small airplane from Innsbruck-Airport such flights require a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 passengers and will cost you per person: Alpenflug (ca. 20 Min. across the alps): Euro 79,- Gletscherflug (ca. 30 Min. across the glaciers): Euro 106,- Best of Alps (ca. 45 Min.): Euro 138,- Make your reservations at the telephone-number below ! by keeweechic Numerous Airlines in all major cities fly to a number of good links: Zurich; Vienna; Munich; Frankfurt; and Amsterdam. Some have direct flights to Innsbruck, or provide connections. If you rent a car from say Munich, you will reach Innsbruck in an easy 2 hour drive. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Aiming by KristaB Don't forget to check if your pilot has a special Innsbruck landing certificate issued by local authorities. You don't want to almost get there and then ... oops, sorry ... It's quite understandable, once you see all those high mountains arround Innsbruck ! Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Innsbruck airport - arrival on Tyrolean Airways by aukahkay Innsbruck airport, Krabinitten, is very close to the city. It is probably a 15 minute taxi ride and costs around 10 euros. Flying into Innsbruck is an experience by itself. I took Tyrolean Airways from Frankfurt. The flight was just over an hour and on the approach to Innsbruck, the plane flew low in the valley until I could see the houses of Innsbruck below me. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

An aircraft during landing at Innsbruck airport by flyfreak There are several airlines serving Innsbruck Airport (LOWI) from Great Britain, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway and other airports in Austria . The biggest aircraft which is able to land in Innsbruck is a Boeing 767 at the moment. For looking up airlines serving to Innsbruck check the Innsbruck airport website (there are a lot of new airlines each season, but sometimes destinations are being served for a short time only due to not so much bookings). Landing at Innsbruck airport means a spectacular view on sunny days or a bumpy arrival on days with the (in)famous Innsbruck foehn :-) Other airports to be considered for travelling to Innsbruck are Munich airport, Salzburg airport and Zurich airport: Arriving from MUNICH airport: you can take the airport taxi right to the door of your hotel/pension/friend's place. The inconvenience is that it takes you very long to get here because this shuttle stops at MANY places and even makes big detours. I also nearly missed my airplane when I once took the shuttle from Innsbruck to Munich because of that! You can either book ahead or go to the Four Seasons Airport Shuttle desk in Munich arrival hall. http://www.airport-transfer.com By train it takes you approx. 2:45 hrs - you have to take a train first to the main railway station and then take the train to Innsbruck. Arriving from SALZBURG airport: you have to take the bus to the main railway station and then drive with the train to Innsbruck. Arriving from ZURICH airport: the best and fastest way is the train. Take one of the Schnellbahn to Zurich main railway station (each 10 to 15 minutes) and then a train to Innsbruck (approx. 3:20 hrs). For train schedules check the Swiss timetables! www.sbb.ch

Kranebitten airport - Innsbruck by desert_princess Find great travel deals from and to Innsbruck. I don't remember anymore where I 've read it , but sky europe - the low cost company - included Innsbruck in his travel destinations, making the capital city of Tirol easily accessible from all over Europe. And also facilitating the connection between the two capitals - Innsbruck and Vienna . niki - the sister company of airberlin starts flying innsbruck from fall 2008 http://www.easyjet.com/en/book/index.asp http://www1.skyeurope.com/en/ - canceled his daily flights from vienna in summer 2008. Inntour is a company that has been renting out skis and other winter sports equipment for quite a while now, but in 2006 they expanded their business to include year-round bicycle rentals. I haven't had a chance to rent from them yet, but I did stop by and have a chat with them shortly before my train was scheduled to leave. They say their first summer of bicycle rentals has been a huge success, with everybody in the shop working overtime to meet the demand and keep the bikes in good condition. Rental prices depend on the type of bike you want. A Mountain Bike is about twice as expensive as a City Bike, for example, and a Touring Bike is in between. To rent a City Bike with 3 or 7 speed hub gears, lights, a luggage carrier, mudguards and front and back brakes would cost 14 Euros per day or 58 Euros for five days (2006 prices). This is slightly more expensive than in Verona and considerably more expensive than in Amsterdam, where the bikes are simpler and there is fierce competition among dozens of rental shops. It is also more expensive than in Paris or Strasbourg. where bike rentals are subsidized by the city councils and the regional transit authorities. Second photo: Their whole basement is full of bicycles, so you probably won't have trouble getting one from them. Since they have so many bikes, they can also rent out to large groups, and they offer guided bicycle tours of Innsbruck and vicinity. Third photo: The entrance to the Inntour shop is in the courtyard at Leopoldstraße 4. Leave a Comment

 1. A EuroCity train in Innsbruck main station by Nemorino, 2 more photos I arrived in Innsbruck on a EuroCity train from Verona, and left twenty-four hours later on the same train bound for Munich. The journey took three and a half hours from Verona to Innsbruck, over the Brenner Pass, and not quite two hours from Innsbruck to Munich, going down the Inn Valley most of the way. These are not the most modern trains in the European railway system, but they are fast and dependable, and run several times per day in each direction. I don't suggest eating in the dining car on this run, but otherwise it's a good way to travel. Second photo: A view from the train above Innsbruck. Third photo: Landscape near Bolzano, as seen from the train on the way from Verona to Innsbruck. Leave a Comment

Innsbruck Bus by iris2002 As a small town transport in Innsbruck does not cause big problems. Connections with buses and city-trains on main routes are well established, except for late hours (esp after midnight); public transport to some remote parts of the town or of surrounding villages can be difficult, keep this in mind when looking for a flat. Most central locations and universities are in walking distance. Very popular especially among students is biking, Innsbruck has become quite biker-friendly during recent years with many streets having their own biking track. Cheap bikes can be found on university blackboards, in "The Stadtblatt" (weekly free advert newspaper, see below) and via private connections.
